Jane's not your sparkly-- and yet not your evil -- vampire. She's an undead hippie. Some of the rules that Leigh M. Lane has devised for her vampire universe are a bit different from "classic" vampires. This is fine because she makes those changes sensible and realistic, if I can use that word.

I don't ever discuss plots very much, and I won't here. You should come to the plot without being spoiled -- especially this plot because it's a pip. Jane makes some rather bad decisions early in the book, and she has to use every bit of her cunning and supernatural skills and strengths to overcome the villain of the piece.

Leigh has written a GREAT villain, too, with roots in medieval mythology.

Leigh has a talent for writing fully-fleshed characters, and she does a fine job here. Even the dogs have strong personalities.

I am a known grammar freak, and I found a few errors. Will they bother most people? Probably not.

A slightly more troubling problem is the rapidity with which Leigh wraps up the plot. I would have preferred some more development in that area. So not five stars.But if I could give four-and-a-half, I would

This short book is unimaginative and disgusting with its blasphemous and base language and borderline filth. This book is not worth my time.
If you would like reading something other than a vampire sucking his or her victims dry, then Jane is your gal! A surprising twist of fate as the vampire becomes the victim, of what I cannot say. Suffice it to say this is a quick and fun read.
Jane was carefree and young, when she was turned into a Vampire. She tries to do the right thing; easy for a 'flower child', but not for a Vampire, an interesting combination. The storyline is original and enjoyable. I look forward to reading more of Jane's episodes.
This is the second book about Jane, the hippie vampire, that I've read. Again, my expectations have been met and actually exceeded. I found a rich universe and some thrilling mystery going on.

The plot reminded me of a Greek Myth and it worked wonderfully for Jane's character. I was with her every step of the way.

Great read, mysterious and engaging characters, plus a dash of the metaphysical to up the steaks where Jane's soul is concerned.
I really enjoyed reading this quick, light vampire novel. What a refreshing change of pace from the typical dark, overly-sexual vampire story. Leigh M. Lane's subtle sense of humor is displayed in Jane, a vampire who happens to be vegan (oh the irony!) and a hippie chick. As she battles a completely different type of vampire (SPOILER ALERT!), you find yourself rooting for this sweet, flower-child-of-a-bloodsucker to come out on top. I look forward to reading the next one!
I stopped reading a lot of vampire books awhile back- I got burnt out reading the same stories with a slightly twist.

Then I met Jane. I'm a huge fan of Jane, and can't wait to read more of her story. For a short story, the main character, Jane, was extremely well developed. I really enjoyed the story line. It kept me hooked from beginning to end, and anxiously waiting for the next in the series.

A vampire with a conscience? A truly awesome take, and I look forward to seeing how, or if, Jane redeems herself.
Jane was turned in the time of counterculture. She was reborn amongst sit ins, free love, and the music of the 1960s.

She follows the same philosophies she adhered to as a human. She is a vegetarian and tries her best not to hurt anyone. She has a good soul and a thirst for blood. These two qualities merge to frame an interesting and unique take on vampire stories.

I'm a fan of Leigh M Lane and, as usual, I wasn't disappointed with her work. It's very well written. The characters have depth and are perfectly fleshed out in a short amount of time. It's a fantastic read and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!
