Older teens, especially girls, will like this story. It's got action, romance, and spirituality. While the author clearly writes from a Christian perspective, the story is compelling and keeps the reader guessing. There were times I couldn't read fast enough, especially in the 2nd half of the story!

There are a few scenes that might be a bit too tough for younger readers. Anyone 8th grade and up should be able to handle the rough parts (a shooting, dead bodies, main characters get beaten up by bad guys). I don't want to give too much away! Characters struggle with the meaning of their faith, especially when confronting loss.

Great story, kept me interested and wanting to read more. I had a hard time putting this book down. Can't wait to read another C. J. Peterson book.
Strength from Within kept me engrossed, could barely put it down as I wanted to see what was going to happen to the main characters. Made me laugh, made me cry. Very good book, can't wait to read more from C.J. Peterson!
Great read, would make an excellent movie for Hallmark. Can clearly see the action in every chapter, and feel the heartbreak. Teens will love it, but adults can rekindle there younger years.
Wonderful book for teens and adults a like. Stacey as the kid in town is instantly faced with challenges in her new surroundings. Finding inner strength within is hard enough for the average teen. But faith sees her through to the end. This book has it all!

CJ Peterson expertly places the dialogue in the minds eye. Keeping your attention anticipating what next, how will she cope, will they all survive the town and it's darkness.
Stacey is a character a lot of teens can identify with. Many of the situations she deals with, are common to teens and young adults. When someone threatens her town, her friends, and consequently her life, she does not stand by and let it happen. When tragedy hits though, she needs to figure out where her strength and loyalty lies.
I really wanted to like this book more than I did. The basic story line is really quite good. The pedantic character descriptions are tiresome. There were so, very many grammatical errors that it was distracting. The same words were used too many times to describe the actions of characters. In just 2 to 3 pages the main character wiped the tears from her face several times, which is okay, but the phrase used to describe that action needed to be varied. My understanding was that this book is targeted for middle teens. It was way too graphic (digging bullets out of each other's legs and teens torturing teens) for me to recommend it to any of my junior high/early high school students. If the characters had been older, I could understand a bit more, but even for fiction it was a bit far-reaching for 17 and 18 year old kids in the United States. The book has good "bones" and needs a good editor.
