A regular girl, more beautiful than most, extremely hardworking and with realistic goals..she thought. And then reality set in - on point, perplexing, poignant and unfortunately, not perfect. She had a feeling, no physical proof, just her instinct. She had to face that intangible something, something that would change her world forever. She never lost sight of her major goal which was to keep her sons as happy as they had always been even after their beloved daddy discovered that material things were more important than real love. The author reinforced the love that had been removed by never being visibly negative. This book, a conglomeration of daily journals, impacts each and everyone of us who has experienced bumps in life. She wrote so realistically , so simply, so "just right." Read this book and fall in love with her and recognize what a major accomplishment she achieved, all by herself! I Thought She'd Be Prettier Diana Lee 9781522878841 Books Reviews
This book is a great read of the perils of a wife in love with her husband who begins to live the marriage on the rocks. She try's to save it with her sense of humor and becoming Nancy Drew between work, kids, and laundry. My favorite part is at the family "meet me" dinner when mother-in-law to be nails him from the get go. Then when he realizes where he will be lying for eternity and what he's afraid of Most!
Writing is a wonderful way to express feelings and experiences that are often difficult to articulate. The author of this book was able to do this in a way that brought both smiles and tears for me having had similar experiences before the death of my marriage. I had many of her thoughts and wishes and like her, came out stronger, wiser and happier.
An interesting journal from a woman who went through too much to try to keep her family together. An easy read with some interesting twists and turns and is written with a witty sense of humor. I think it is good read for anyone who has gone through a divorce or separated from a person after a long term relationship. I love the ending...
Anna"s quest to find out the truth about her husband, who has become so self absorbed,in trying to cover up the affair. She goes to unbelievable lengths to find out the truth and save her marriage. She has done a wonderful job of keeping the viewer interested and anxiously waiting for the next shoe to drop ! This is a very compelling and easy read. I recommend this this book to anyone, looking for something light and interesting. I thought She"d be Prettier. READ IT TODAY
A very relatable story that happens very often, a mother determined to keep her marriage to protect her boys from a broken home. Even though the story is common, no two people approaches the same circumstances in the same way, and that is what makes this story nicely unpredictable and the author amusingly lets the events unfold.
The story is entertaining and realistically told and with a nice touch of humor that will keep you glue to the pages. Like a good movie, never boring and a fast and very enjoyable read.
The author also scored more points by quoting my favorite poem in the appropriate part of the story “If” — BY RUDYARD KIPLING
Highly recommend this book. Enjoy.
Have you ever wondered how and why a woman can stand by her man even though she suspects he may be straying? Diana Lee chronicles the intimate thoughts of Anna Bradford, who I would call a modern-day heroine because she has the guts to fight for her marriage, which her husband insists is not in jeopardy. Her suspicions don’t let up and she has to determine what or who is the threat. I was hooked as Anna connects with her inner-sleuth to discover the truth. As Anna develops nerves of steel, I was fascinated by each of her increasingly bold actions, all the while continuing to genuinely love and care for her husband.
Ms. Lee’s vehicle for this story is a journal. As Anna has no one to confide in, she writes her heart out in secret, so the reader now easily becomes her confidant, feeling her pain, fielding her suspicions, and smirking with her triumphs. The read is like listening to a friend work through a personal crisis, without the burden of having to offer advice. Instead, you are compelled to read on to learn what Anna is going to do next.
This is an interesting story. It has the whole package of laughs and tears and all the rest, but this woman does not have a working knowledge of the use of the English language. Her spelling errors alone make this hard to read and her use of words and phrases is maddening. Frequently using incorrect words, like loose for lose and quite for quiet, she left me wondering if she was even reading what she wrote. "In which" is used incorrectly on nearly every other page. If you can overlook this, it might interest you but I repeat, it is hard to read past the improper use of our beautiful language!
