I have to admit I usually stay away from vampire books simply because most seem to be focused on some prepubescent teenager suffering from to much sexual frustration falling in love for some bad boy vampire who has all the personality of a well trained rock. This book is very different, the character is very three dimensional and is dealing with being thrust into the world of vampires and having to make the choice of living by their rules or dying. It is a short read, a few hours but worth it and has me dying for the next book which I have also read and came back wanting more. - Darklordjim
Vampire - Child of Destiny
Unusual start to the story, interesting twist with descriptive ending/beginning of the main character. Lots of action, emotions and mystery setting up the story beautifully written. I have to admit, I am now a "Diehard Fan" of the 'Gwen Vampire' series! So much so, that after having read the first explosive excerpts from the third book, I am now anxiously overzealous with anticipation, awaiting it's completion, with such wanton desire! The author, Charmaine Marie Mitchell, brilliantly draws the reader in within the first few chapters. Again, the seemingly effortless use of First Person Narrative and such vibrant adjectives, along with alluring details of each character's descriptions, had certainly, once again, left me enthusiastically wanting more! Although the theme of this series is Vampiric, there is certainly something relatable for any avid reader within this series; Albeit, sensuous romance, elaborately creative characters, thrilling sense of adventure/danger, magnificent Storytelling/Narrative, etc., in which I had simply feel compelled to read on, yet again!
Additionally, the delicious build-up of scrumptious characters, along with the beautifully descriptive settings and/or surroundings, had been so eloquently brought to life- or death, I had once again, been drawn into these eras in time- truly "Lost' within the Author's brilliant creation....8)
As is the case with all of Ms.Mitchell's books &/or Short Stories, I had not been able to put this one down until the very last word...8) - Mel
